Papiamentu is a mixture of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English, and French, and it also has some Arawak Indian and African influences. It is one of the few Creole Languages of the Caribbean that has survived to the present day.<\/p>\n

Papiamentu is predominately a spoken language among the local people of Cura\u00e7ao, Bonaire, and Aruba.<\/p>\n

From island to island, small variations in Papiamentu mainly in spelling and vocabulary can be observed.
\nSome efforts have been made to standardize Papiamentu and its orthography, however, Aruba decided on a spelling that is closer to Spanish, whereas the other islands tried to stay closer to the roots in that respect.<\/p>\n

So let us introduce you to the most popular \u00abPapiamentu<\/a>\u00bb word, \u00abDUSHI<\/strong>!\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u201cDushi\u201d is a beloved and frequently-used word in Cura\u00e7ao. Dushi\u00a0means sweet, nice, or good.
\nYou can use \u201cdushi\u201d to praise a food, lovely person, or pleasing place. The word is like a hug.<\/p>\n

Like \u00abSweetheart<\/strong>\u00bb : I love you \u00abdushi\u00bb!<\/p>\n

Or \u00abDelicious<\/strong>\u00bb : This food tase \u00abdushi\u00bb!<\/p>\n

And as \u00abGood<\/strong>\u00bb : Life is \u00abdushi\u00bb!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
